TRILLIUM HOUSE: Northern Virginia

{PROJECT PAGE} Natural stone outcroppings and extensive bedrock inspired the celebration of stone in the design of this 50-acre site. The landscape focus is a two-level swimming pool lined with stone quarried from the site. The pool’s vanishing edge carries the eye westward to distant mountain views. The upper pool’s “beach” shoreline and native plantings create the effect of a secluded quarry pool in a forest clearing. This project won a Potomac Chapter American Society of Landscape Architecture award in 2004.

FAMILY COMPOUND: Rose Hall, Jamaica

{PROJECT PAGE} The design of this Caribbean vacation home began with the site selection for one family member and evolved into master planning multiple contiguous parcels for three family members. The master plan was developed to maximize each villa’s views to the sea while being sympathetic to topography, prevailing breezes and solar exposure. Arentz Landscape Architects LLC developed architectural schematics for the houses and then worked with a local Jamaican architect to develop the vernacular bungalow-styled compound. Arentz Landscape Architects LLC's landscape plan features extensive gardens, terraces, and pools.
